I have finished The Odyssey. Sad face. I love finishing a book and seeing how the story comes to an end, but I also hate finishing a book because then you do not get to go on any more adventures with the characters. You always form bonds with some of the characters in a book and well this isn’t the point of my post here today.
For those of you that have read The Odyssey you know how it ends. Odysseus comes home to find a bunch of suitors in his house, trying to marry his wife, plotting to kill his son, raping his maids, eating all his food and wine running his house into ruin. So he kills them one in all.
Question of the day is would you react the same if you came home to such a thing.
My answer is a loud and resounding HELL YES. I would rain bloody chaos and destruction upon them. I hope that doesn’t make me a bad person. If for no other reason I would do it because they were actively trying to kill my son, but then they would also be trying to steal my wife, robbing my of my possessions and assaulting my house staff. I take protecting people very seriously, especially family and people in my employ, but even total strangers. So yes I would kill them all absent thought, except for how to go about doing it. Would I do as Odysseus did and wade a path of bloody destruction leaving dead and broken bodies in my wake, or would I do it quietly, with stealth taking one at a time? Either way the deed would be done, and I as a father, husband and employer would have done my duty to protect those who are dear to me.
Ms. Vance, please do not kick me out of class now.
Everyone have a wonderful day!
You won’t ever get thrown out of my class for taking a stand. Excellen post!
